Re: What Books Do You Dislike?
I can not STAND any chick lit. I read a book by Jane Green and I hurled that thing across the room, it made my blood boil. I don't think I have ever had such an intense reaction to a book before. Stabby.

'Catcher in the Rye'? I think we need to talk a little bit....WildCityWoman wrote:That's always interesting to hear - what people DON'T like.
For instance, I, unlike many readers, do NOT like the book 'Catcher in the Rye'. Yet, it's an all time favourite with others.
I also didn't like Lord of the Flies - the only reason I suffered through it was because it was a mandatory read when I did comp/lit gr. 10 to 11 at Burnhamthorpe Collegiate here in Toronto.
Those two books I can live without, thanks.

Only those become weary of angling who bring nothing to it but the idea of catching fish.

A surprising amount of people dislike this book! I really enjoyed it!WildCityWoman wrote:For instance, I, unlike many readers, do NOT like the book 'Catcher in the Rye'. Yet, it's an all time favourite with others.
Then again I don't mind Stephen King, as many here seem to dislike as well. :]
Agreed, I tried Mr. Maybe, couldn't even get through the 3rd chapter. I then tried Jemima J. Same results.cakeheart222 wrote: I can not STAND any chick lit. Same with Tamora Peirce, Meg Cabot, Stephenie Meyer, James Patterson's YA books, etc. Why does chick lit and YA have to be so.... shallow?
Right. Well to actually name a book: The Bell Jar.
Dropping glasses just to hear them break.

The Flounder - Gunther Grass. Almost finished it, but gave it up when I realized it was too much after all.

Rock On! by Dan Kennedy. My review:

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
Must be the worst book ever written. I know that it is supposed to be a modern classic but all I see in it is the recurring theme of how the white man must be conquered.
