Suzanne, what do you think would be best?
I'm open to suggestions on Suzanne's question above.
Do you guys want to do Hitchhiker's Guide in October, November and December and then The Hobbit in November, December and January?
I think it would be really nice to get some books selected this far in advance for once. People can then order them and start reading early.

Re: November & December 2012 Fiction Book Selection
I have a question and a comment:
The question: On "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," are we talking about just the first book, with "Restaurant at the End of the Universe," "Life, The Universe and Everything," and "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" to follow, or all four books of the trilogy (Don't blame me, blame Douglas Adams for that one).
Comment: Chris, actually, chapter one of "The Hobbit," begins "In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit."

Cattleman, we're just talking about the 1st book in the series entitled, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," but I see no reason why we couldn't keep the discussion moving through each of the books in the series if the interest is high.

Re: November & December 2012 Fiction Book Selection
Well, I'm reading "Atlas Shrugged" so I can't read three novels at one time. I could read two especially since they would be so different.
However, from what I have read from members in this thread, most are not interested in AS, so don't go by my preference. However, I do think it would be a great idea to start a new discussion now since there is so much interest in these two novels. Having two options for fiction is a fantastic idea.
Another thought is these two novels, "Hobbit" and "Hitchhikers" are both in the same genre. Will it be difficult reading two novels from the same genre at the same time? Many members have said they would like to read both at the same time, or be able to choose one or the other. I would start both now. And since both have additional following stories, in January we could continue the one with the most interest maybe? I think having a variety of novels to choose from is a good thing.
Wow Chris, you put this together nicely

i'm good with the Hobbit and would also like to try some of tolkien's novels after that. I have never read Lord of the Rings. the movies were great though.

I've never had much interest in Hitchhikers but i could possibly give it a try at some point, but I agree with Suzanne I could probably read another one now along with Atlas, but I don't think I could do two.

As of right now this is what I am thinking.
Hitchhikers Guide in October, November and December
The Hobbit in November, December and January
