My wife and I are donating our bodies to science. If anything is suitable for donation to living patients, it will be taken. The rest will go to a medical school so students can learn by dissection. After that use, the remains will be cremated.

I chose this because my father donated his body to science. It made funeral arrangements very easy and cheap, something like $250. for transport to the medical school. A few years later, I attended a very moving memorial service put on by the medical school remembering those who had been used to expand knowledge during the previous year.

I also think the concept of placing ones body in a grave for eternity is insane. Or at least a waste of space. Hmmmm, well maybe not - if a grave prevents another strip mall from being built, maybe this is a good thing!

Would you believe it, somebody in high places had a new idea about this in France.

Giving your body to science used to be an advantage for the reasons Landroid mentioned, but it was a cost for "science", for example the medical school that used your body, because the law said "science" had to cremate the remains afterwards. A few years ago, the government withdrew the funding for those cremations, so now you have to give some cash in advance if you want to donate your body. If not, or if your relatives do not pay the fee, science, which does need your body, will have to refuse it.

I have a theory that sounds like I'm just very paranoid, but its my theory and I'm sticking to it.

I believe that eventually every inch of the world that can be built upon will be built upon whether we like it or not. Therefore they will dig up the bodies and do something with them anyway.

I'm just going to save everyone the trouble and be creamted.

Also, with cremation you don't have to have just one resting place, you can be as many places as your ashes will allow. Morbid, but true.

I think it is a good idea to think of 'the body' our 'corporeal being'...as just 'old clothes' after we are dead...The cemetary...is just then, the old clothes dump.

Donate the organs if they are still useful....but burn them if they are old and worn out.....

But the real part of us....will carry on....just not in the way we imagine.
