feeling is first
This is a great poem, but it just got me to thinking about all the discussion about religion and logic. Can you imagine a life ruled completely by logic? (I know emotions(feelings) are not something to rule your life either, but they've got to have a voice...a whisper or shout?)

Here is another good one:

it may not always be so; and i say
that if your lips, which i have loved, should touch
another's, and your dear strong fingers clutch
his heart, as mine in time not far away;
if on another's face your sweet hair lay
in such silence as i know, or such
great writhing words as, uttering overmuch,
stand helplessly before the spirit at bay;

if this should be, i say if this should be--
you of my heart, send me a little word;
that i may go unto him, and take his hands,
saying, Accept all happiness from me.
Then shall i turn my face and hear one bird
sing terribly afar in the lost lands

I am wondering if anyone is interested in discussing one of E. E. Cummings books of poetry. Anyone?

Ooops, I haven't quite learned to use my new powers as Moderator for good. Please forgive me, Tom. I accidentally zapped your post. Tom was suggesting that we read E.E. Cummings The Enormous Room.

Think critically about critical thinking.

I like the idea of reading The Enormous Room and it is available online. I am game to read it, however, I'd still like to do one of Cummings collections of poetry. Any takers for The Enormous Room?

Here is a link for anyone who wants to take a look.

I don't mind the zap. The Enormous Room in my opinion exhibits a depth of humanity that's missing in his poems. The poems are fun, but I thought more of ee after reading his book.

Did you know that cummings wrote a WW I memoir called The Enormous Room? I've been curious about it. It might be difficult to find, though. (Oh boy, am I still pre-Internet at heart.)

Just an FYI -- I found an electronic copy online. Look back a few posts and you will find the link, if you are interested. It looks like we may have a go of the book.

If I get a few more people interested in The Enormous Room by E.E. Cummings, I will ask Chris to give us a whole thread for it. How about reading it during the month of April?

few more people interested in The Enormous Room by E.E. Cummings,
I'd be interested in reading the Enormous Room. Perhaps we could intersperse some ee cummings poetry during the discussion, might be interesting to compare his poetry/prose writing.
