A book a book a kingdom for a book- any book will do!

Unread post

 I live in England and am female with a grown up family and have always loved reading. The change in the weather autumn leaves, foggy evenings with a hint of frost, perfect for a romantic novel, a walk it the forest and a log fire- so bring the big read on!! Snow, wine and a read- who could ask for more, except also having the love of your life by your side to savour the read, the moment, and the wine...
Just to say hello and love reading anything- love the word on the page and love nothing more than having a response to text. Actually love the papers The Times, especially the Sunday Times, Private Eye and Money Week. One of the most powerful books I've read is by Laurie Schivner We need to Talk about Kevin- not sure I'll the film will match up to the book. Still love Jane Austen's Pride and Pred...and a good chickflit

Can't wait to be part of the site----

"From childhood's hour I have not been as others were
I have not seen as others saw
I could not bring my passions from a common spring
From the same source I have not taken my sorrow
I could not awake my heart to joy at the same tone
And all I loved - I loved alone"

Many thanks for the replies- just going through 'an autumn leaves' phase and have started the day with a dip in to Language for others by Clare Morrell- flicked through Alan Bennett's The Uncommon Reader. A great way to start the day.......We had a skimming of frost last night so the landscape reminds me of Rudyard Kipling's 'The Way Through The Woods'- the leaves are an artist's palate.

Have a great read folks!!!!

Hello just to say as the leaves fall against the first skim of frost, I am reading, for the zillionth time Anne of Green Gables, I am sure this is a distant thread from Pride and Pred what do you think?
Reading Private Eye and its politically incorrect note on English politics.........What can I say?

Loving the smell of wood fires outside and that half-way moment between the end of the Summer and begin of the Winter. Take your book out today and read in a wooded area with soup, bread, wine and your loved one.
Just one of those days

Hi

You have to read 'We Need to Talk about Kevin' ---- it changes your concept of power from the written page.

Read it quietly so as to savour the prose, hidden layers and ponder over the characters and their issuesmh .

Make time for the book- you realise how good writing can make you change and think, so that you apply that intensity and morality to your own works.
