I'm an avid collector of books ... any kind of books, So far i have over 150 books in my library, had more then that but had to donate some cause didn't have the space for them....... any who ..... was curious to know how many books y'all have in your library, please let me know .....
I tried counting the number of books on my shelves once and finally just estimated at some
number over 1300, it seems I've stashed them all over my house, or perhaps they just migrate
where they please.
“Her blood is settled, and her joints are stiff;
Life and these lips have long been separated:
Death lies on her like an untimely frost
Upon the sweetest flower of all the field.”
I would love to answer this... however all of my books are currently in storage. BUT YAY I get to take them out soon as I've just moved to a new flat! I do know this however, there are aprox. 5 boxes in my storage of just paperbacks alone...may 3 or 4 of hard covers, and then about 25-30 ebooks on my nook.
Hello Terebithia, I just noticed your avatar, "The Red Tent", that was one intense book.
Overall including my ebooks, I must have at least 3,000. I inherited a great mass of books from my mother and have become quite the hoarder myself. They are under tables, they are in drawers, they are in my basement and attic, and yes, some are even on shelves. My sister in law threatens to come over my house with boxes when I'm not home to carry them off to Good Will. I am due to donate some. The problem with having so many is when I want to read something, I can never find it!
I have about 800 books and counting.
I discovered this really great on line cataloging site called LibraryThing. It allows you to cataloge your books by simply recording the ISBN number or title. The program searches Amazon and other sources to record all relevant info about your book. The program will automatically organize them alphabetically by title or author and you can further sort them with tags.
It's free for the first 200 books with some nominal fee for any number after that.
Check it out. It has many more features than I could describe here. I've cataloged 600 of my books so far.
I only have about 30 in adult books. I have maybe 200 YA books because I am a teacher and they come in handy in my classroom, although I think this summer I will go through them and get rid of some. All my 30 adult books are unread. I read my books in the order I get them. When I finish them I put them on paperbackswap and if I don't get any takers I take them to the thrift shop. I don't have a library in my town, but I get lots of books from the thrift shop!
