New to BookTalk.org!

Unread post

Hellooooo!! :)

I am Robyn, however, my friends call me Byn - and anyone who is a reader, is a friend so you're automatically welcome to do so!

I am a 24 year old female currently studying my Honours in Publishing Studies in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was born and raised here, but I have every intention of traveling the world - with a ten year plan to climb Mount Everest!

I am an avid reader (I believe the term, bibliomaniac applies!) and an aspiring author. I'm also an intern at Random House Struik and a copy editor for an African pulp fiction magazine called Jungle Jim (which is available on Amazon for those of you who're interested).

I love to keep fit, I go for a 6-10km run everyday (when the work limit allows) and I cannot fall asleep as night unless I've read beforehand. I also love to play tennis and surf. I want to move to Cape Town at the end of the year to ensure that I can have a run along the beach and a surf daily - not to mention surround myself in beauty!

I am a fan of literary fiction, first and foremost. I have no time nor tolerance for 'crap' such as 50 Shades and anything by James Patterson. In fact, if I'm honest, I'm somewhat of a literary snob - but I have my BA in English Literature to thank for that!

I also have a BA Honours in Dramatic Arts majoring in Performance, Writing and Dramatherapy :) I'm somewhat of an eternal student, as I will also begin to learn French in August. Wish me luck!

I hope to meet many good and kind people here, who - like me - have an unhealthy obsession with books. Reading is indeed one of the greatest pleasures in life, and I look forward to hearing about what others around the world are reading, too! :)

Welcome to BookTalk.org, Robyn. :-)

You have quite an active life. I can't picture doing 6 - 10k every day. The max I ever ran was a 10k run when I was much younger and that was a challenge. That's really great that you're so fit and into taking care of yourself.
