Reading by candlelight?

Unread post

Anyone else love reading by the candlelight or am I the only one who reads physical books anymore?

I can see the appeal of reading by candlelight but doing so seems risky.

Do you read by candlelight when you're in bed or elsewhere? As long as it happens when you're not likely to fall asleep it sounds wonderful. Candle sure set the mood.

I love reading by candlelight! I have been on a horror novel spree for the past several weeks and the candlelight, the open windows, the sound of leaves falling and my dog squeaking my bedroom door open has all heightened my senses and my reading enjoyment. Currently reading, "The Kindly Ones", Jonathan Littell. A big, fat hardback.

What are you reading by candlelight tonight?

While I don't need the candlelight in order to read my kindle, I do enjoy reading it in a room lit this way. There is something warm and calming about it. A candle, a glass of wine, and my kindle can help me seriously unwind after a hectic week. I am getting ready to start searching for my next book. I've been on a buying binge for kindle books and can't decide what to read first now lol.

I think you can read in any kind of light which is comfortable for your eyes. If you had some eyestrain because it wasn't enough light I think you would know pretty quickly. Then you would just need an extra candle. After all our ancestors read that way because they had no other options.

A spooky book would amp up the eerieness, I'm going to have to try that myself :-D

It's coming up on the season to read by firelight.... Ahhhh...crackling fire, a snifter of brandy, a good book - something from the time period such as Frankenstein or a history book, a big pillow....kick back and enjoy...

I often read by candlelight because electricity is off. It's horrible if you are awake, no electric, and nothing to do at night. So I balance a candle, and read by that, and listen to the night sounds. Lovely

I love physical books as a rare book collector, and I love the allure of reading by candlelight..
I am just your typical movie nerd, postcard collector and aspiring writer.
