Hello all!

Unread post

Hi Everyone, I'm Pamela.

I taught myself to read when I was four and I've been reading ever since.

I'm trying to be a writer, by that I mean published, and have been enjoying an online writer's workshop for the past two years so today I thought there had to be a good reader's group online as well.

I'm eager to get to know everyone and hear different ideas and views on some great books.

Welcome Pamela,

I too want to be a writer and have been reading for many, many years - sixteen at least [I'm 22]. What kind of books do you like to read? I like a lot of things; sports and science not so much.

I like the classics.

JD Salinger is one of my favorite authors.

Have you read The Perks of Being a Wallflower?

If not it's an excellent book and reminds me very much of Salinger's writing both in style and theme.

No; the only Salinger I've managed to read is The Catcher in the Rye - for some reason my book shops don't seem to sell Salinger's novels - at least the three I manage to get to frequently enough to buy books.

I also enjoy the classics. I have lots of them!

I write a little of everything.

I've had a few poems published, like for real published where they pay YOU.

I'm working on literary fiction short stories at the moment because I firmly believe the best way to learn to write well is by learning how to produce a well written short story.

I write non-fiction as well.

Do you write?

I do. Lots of different stuff; crime for adults, children's literature, some poetry, short stories - depends on what I am working on and what has inspired me - I'm currently working on plans for a kids novel and working on a crime series - a lull there for now, and a short story to get me out of my rut.
